Ordered these for my 8, almost 9, year old daughter to wear to school with her uniform. She is currently in a size 2.5 and, while she doesn’t measure narrow, has narrow feet. I think it’s more to do with the fact that the height of her foot from the bottom (sole) of her foot to the top of her foot is small. I guess she’s flat-footed though she has an arch? Anyway, we have a tough time fitting ballet flats or other shoes that don’t have a strap to keep the shoe on. That said, I ordered both a size 2 and 3 (US) for her, having read somewhere that they ran a little small. She said the size 2s were too tight on the sides so we will go with the 3s. They are a bit large & she definitely has room to grow, but with the straps they should work.
One heads up: the picture of the red is not accurate. I was expecting (hoping) for a darker red as pictured, but these are definitely bright cherry red. Still cute, but not what is pictured here so beware.
And one last general thought on my part: being patent, I’m hoping these hold up. The last 2 years I’ve ordered her patent Dansko clogs and they started to have knicks in the patent at the toes within days, and then chunks peeled away within weeks. Hoping these hold up better! Will update once she’s started wearing them to school in late August.

As a big fan of Dr. Martens growing up, I was thrilled to find these for my 2 girls. I ordered 2 sizes to try and ended up going with the smaller of the two. These shoes are outstanding in quality and design, and are holding up with the wear and tear that my kids are putting them through! One of my daughters is very picky about how her shoes fit and feel, and she loves these shoes. She can’t stop talking about how comfortable they were from the first time she tried them on. I would say these shoes run a tad bit big, and have a nice wider fit for wiggle room.

Super cute and comfy shoe but definitely runs super big. My daughter wears a women’s size 5 sneaker and measures a kids size 4 and I ordered her a size 4 shoe…it was so long and big that we ordered two sizes smaller. The size 2 fits with growing room! Zappos as always did a beautiful job with the exchange.

These Maccy Mary Janes by Dr. Martens Kids are just amazing! Seriously – when my daughter started school last year, it was tough to find shoes for her uniform that we knew would hold up to her rough play. We weren’t exactly happy about the price, but trusted Docs to last the year. At the end of the year, most of the kids had at least their second pair of shoes and even a lot of those looked beat up. My daughter, however, still had nearly brand new looking Docs! So, this year, when she needed a bigger size…well, we looked no further than Dr. Martens Kids at Zappos! Believe me, if our ice hockey playing tom-boy didn’t ruin these shoes through the school year, no kid can! Fantastic shoes. Just really fantastic.

DD loves these and has worn them every day for the last week. They are just flexible enough that she can use them for climbing and running on playground but they also seem crazy durable and haven’t shown any signs of wear so we can still use them for dressier outfits.

I ordered 4 pairs of shoes and let my daughter decide. The pairs I ordered were these ones and: Dr. Martens Mary Jane (the one with 2 straps/buckles over the top of the foot),Stride Rite Claire, and Hush Puppies Lexi. I ordered them all in Little Kid size US 3. She chose these Dr. Martens because of how they felt on her foot, and they also fit her well (the other Dr. Martens with the double strap, despite being the same size, were larger). She really likes the sole, because it lifts her off the ground and out of puddles. The look of these is a bit clunky, and at one stage she said “hmmm, they do look a bit like boys’ shoes”, but overall the feel of them has won her over. They look firm to me, but they must be more comfortable than they look, otherwise she would have chosen one of the other pairs. I really like that the strap is not too long (why couldn’t her Hanna Andersson Mary Janes be like this?) The Hush Puppies and Stride Ride have a more refined look if that’s more your thing.

This is the third year I’ve purchased these for my Daughter’s uniform shoes. I honestly can’t say enough good things about how these held up and looked great even with the hard play of a kindergartner/first grader. So worth the price!

I love these shoes, my daughter has not been excited about them. They look great and have held up to daily wear without issue. She complains that they are too heavy and she can’t jump.
Prior years by this time we have been on our 3rd pair due to wear and tear (Sperrys have not held up). As far as I’m concerned you can’t go wrong with this shoe, especially for school.

Although I liked the concept of the tough sole on the shoe, unfortunately it didn’t work out. The shoe was way too wide and heavy for my daughter. The length was fine, but my daughter has a true medium foot and these just looked like clown shoes on her. Just too much shoe. So I exchanged them for the Stride Rite Claire she had last year which fits her perfectly. Guess this will be our school shoe every year.

My daughter needs all black shoes for her school uniform. I was a little worried because the bottoms of these are not black, but the transparency of the soles make them acceptable. I also needed something that had good traction for the playground as well as a sturdy shoe that would last the whole year. I am so sick of having to replace school shoes in the spring for two months left of school. My daughter wanted something that was cute. These shoes fit the criteria perfectly. And as far as Doc Martins go, we got a good deal.
