Firstly, I’ll say that the Dr. Martens 2976’s are pretty good boots, and a excellent alternative to Blundstones: – I was really impressed with the quality of the leather and the sole (it is goodyear welted!) and the interior lining of the boots is leather with a good quality insole included. The construction seems really solid, like good quality work boots, and though they are not steel / safety toe boots, these can pull off both the work durability thing & a fashion look. Very versatile! – My main gripe is that the sizing is a bit big. I’m a size 11 US with most footwear, (Adidas size 11 US usually fits me flawlessly) but the UK 10 / US 11 version of this boot seems a bit large in terms of length and width, and I have not been able to find a half-size down to compare fit. So, I personally “fix” this by adding an extra insole and slim heel insert. Overall, these boots are solid, though they are on the big side.

I tried in 3 different sizes and these boots just don’t ever feel right. The feel stiff and chafe in all the wrong places, PLUS they just look like big ugly clodhoppers. I finally wound up with Blundstones, which just look so much better and are very comfortable (though I wish they came in good colors)!

These are the most uncomfortable boots I have ever worn. I used to stand during the work day on a mat at a stand-up desk, but after 3 months of trying I can’t do it in these boots. My feet ache after about 30 minutes. The boots are still stiff. Should have read reviews on these elsewhere, since it would appear only the British could tolerate such a miserable boot. I had lace-up Doc’s for years, but this was my first attempt at a Chelsea by them. Going to try something else….too bad I can’t get my money back.

True to size. Tight at first but stretches and molds to foot pretty quickly. Super comfortable. Also nice that insole is easily replaceable- got a new one from the doc marten store recently and they feel brand new again. A little clunky, but thats the style. Great for rainy days too.

I bought these to get through a vacation in Boston during winter. They kept my feet warm and dry and were very comfortable. My only “complaint” is that they are very heavy shoes, but the weight might be what makes them so wonderful in treacherous weather.

Could not even check these for size – it was impossible to even get them on. Unlike other Doc Chelsea boots i’ve tried the gore panel panels did not stretch nearly enough to get into these boots. Not sure that even another pull tab would have helped.
Sending back.

Love the styling of these shoes and the leather feels top notch, but unfortunately I had to return them cos I just couldn’t get my feet in them. The openings of the boots with the elastic were too narrow for the shape of my feet. Once the front half of my feet is in the shoes, I spent over 10 min but just couldn’t get my ankles to seat inside. I was afraid that I’d break the back tabs as I was pulling really hard on them.

Dang. They seemed big enough for my actual feet but they were super stiff and I couldn’t even get my left foot into the boot, after trying for 10 minutes. Returning.

These boots are beautifully made but unfortunately did not fit. The first pair ordered – size 7, my true size – were too large. I ordered a second pair – size 6 – and I struggled to pull the boot on, only managing to get my foot in halfway. Sadly, I am returning them.

These are definitely sized more wide for men’s feet. I have a high instep and also found it very hard to get my foot in the boot shaft. The leather and sole are great. Overall fit didn’t work for me, so they are going back.

Great looking boot, very tight and difficult to get on. May stretch a little over time with wear, but not worth the effort in the beginning. Returned the boots as a result.

Really tight to put in. Does not open wide enough to get my foot in. When using it, my feet hurts really bad. The leather is so stiff and causing pain on my foot. I would recommend the “Dark Brown Crazy Horse” leather Chelsea Boot. that boot is so soft and fits right.

I went out on a limb and bought myself something nice for Christmas. My feet are 10-1/2 Wide, so I got the US 11. After adding an over-the-counter cushioned insole, the size is perfect for my feet. I squatted down on my toes to see where the boots would crease, then applied mink oil liberally. Within a few hours they had become the most comfortable footwear I own. I wear these to work every day and I am very pleased. They don’t squeak, slide, or mark the floor. Walking is practically silent.

Be prepared. These boots hurt. The stiffness of the leather literally rubs a sore on my legs around the top of them.

Holy small ankles! Shoe width and fit is good if, you can get your foot past the ankle hole. The leather and band around the ankle is so stiff and tight, wear longer socks or they will cut into your skin.
Patty –
They are really cute but after wearing them a few times they feel like I am walking in flippers. Go for the smaller size.

I could hardly get my foot into the shoe…when I did it was stiff and very uncomfortable. Couldn’t imagine wearing these during any extended period of time.

I really wanted these shoes to work out, so I naively looked over the reviews that mentioned the opening to the boot being way too small. That was unfortunately the case for me. I could not even get my foot in the boot despite sizing up. Otherwise I liked the style of them. I liked that they didn’t have the yellow stitching because I felt that made them a little more formal looking and could pass at work in a professional setting.

Just tight around the ankle when you put them on. Had to stretch them for my son to put on (he’s impatient) but overall they are comfortable for him after he gets them on. They look good, and wear well in snow/slush.

Finally I found a pair of Docs that fit and are comfortable and don’t look to heavy in my size 41 feet:)

Super comfortable from the first wearing and fit is exactly as expected with sizing.

Best boot ever my new favorite im getting them in brown next

They were really large. I ordered two pairs – one with fur lining, and this one, both claimed to be the same size, yet this was visibly larger. Other than that, great boot.

Too heavy and uncomfortably pressing some spots on the foot. Looks very cool though.

Great shoes, just wish they were a tad wider
