I wanted these to work. I had a pair of Docs back in the 90s that I never properly wore in, so I got rid of them and I’ve always regretted it. I recall the pair I had always felt a little too big, and that they were a US 9 (I’m a US 8.5 and they don’t come in half sizes). So I got these ones in a US 8 and I couldn’t even get the things on my feet. Maybe it’s my high arches? Maybe my threshold for pain is lower in my old age? Maybe I’m just not goth enough anymore? Regardless, they went back, and I’ve accepted my uncoolness.

My teenage daughter bought these for herself with her first paycheck. They fit perfectly and were ready to wear right away with no break in period. She feels amazing in them and has received many compliments. Definitely recommend the Napa leather.

docs are a bit tricky – sizes in brick & mortar stores sometimes don’t seem to match sizes online. there may be an issue with the market they’re coming from? but i can’t swear that this is true. anyways, once you get the right size…what is there to say? they’re docs. they’re great!

Spent HOURS reading reviews to try to figure out what size would work, but recommendations were all over the place. Ended up ordering a 7, 8, and 9. I’m almost always a solid 8, but I DO have one pair of Miz Mooz boots in 7.5, and one pair of L’Artiste in 8.5, so I figured I’d try everything. My usual size 8 fits like a glove! I don’t even think these will need a break-in period (fingers crossed — I just got them today). They’re so cool and don’t really look clunky or heavy. SO much comfy room in the toe box, and they aren’t tight on top of my foot either. I think either thin or medium weight socks will be fine. Can’t wait to wear these everywhere!

had these for almost 2 years for work and they are great, i have bad plantar fasciitis so i had to buy insoles, but after you break them in they are great. you will need long socks though but they are solid.

These were my first pair of Dr. Martens. I love the patent leather! I was told that they need a couple of wear to break it. I’m not sure it is was my narrow feet, but I did not have an issues when I first wore them. They were rather comfortable.

Unfortunately I have a high instep, and these boots are uncomfortably tight on the top of my foot. Sadly I have to return them because of the fit issues.

Read a zillion reviews & agonized over what size to get. Finally decided to order my usual 8M, and it’s perfect! Enough room for thick socks, and I can tuck in cheap foam insoles when I want to wear thin socks. These required no breaking in whatsoever (other than waiting for them to stop squeaking, which only took about 3-4 wears). They are comfortable and badass, and I don’t want to wear anything else!

I currently own the same boots without laces and love them so thought this would be an easy fit; however, where the tongue of the shoe is stitched into the shoe digs into the top of your foot so badly that I couldn’t wear them even around the house. I have pretty flat feet so I was surprised that these would dig into my foot as much as they did. Overall, I am disappointed.

Docs only run in full sizes and the run large. So go down to the next full size. You’ll still have space for socks

Great boots! They fit well and look great. I did add an insole with a little more arch support, but the ones it came with are actually not bad, and an improvement from the last pair of Docs I owned. My feet are on the narrow side, but I’m able to lace these up for a good fit.
